Testimonials

Over the past 15 years we have been privileged to have welcomed hundreds of children and their parents to our playgroup. Here are some reflections from parents past and present about the time they spent with Inner West Steiner Playgroup…

Simpler family rhythms…
Playgroup helped me find how I wanted to parent without explicit instruction. You made the child central but cared for the parent too. You celebrated the child but there was work to do too. The child should explore and be tactile but there were limits. It has given me a quiet confidence about how I want to parent. It helped me accept there’s a lot of hard work to be done.

The humble, yet high quality approach, I learnt at playgroup has filtered into our family life. Quality toys, a thoughtful environment, some simple nourishment. Special occasions, seasons and family birthdays all celebrated with relish to punctuate down time and simpler family rhythms.

Meaningful ways of being…
Playgroup helped our family to more thoughtfully and joyfully immerse ourselves in the ups and downs of parenting and family life! It was lovely to witness my son’s growth amongst his peers and to be a part of all of the children’s development, watching relationships blossom and play expand from crawlers to waddling toddlers to confident and connected three and four year olds. For myself I also looked forward to and cherished the sense of nurture and quiet that I experienced during playgroup, a feeling that seems at odds with being surrounded by small children! I have deeply appreciated the authentic space that Meg and Louise create as well as their meaningful connections with the children and their whole families. We move forward with some great friends, as well as some simple and meaningful ways of being for our family.

A perfect connection…

Playgroup helped me find my place as a parent and our rhythm as a family. It was exactly what I’d been looking for as a new parent, a more grounded and nurturing way of seeing and doing things and a new way of connecting with my child and the daily routines and rituals for us as a family.

At playgroup, my son felt listened to and nurtured, giving him a sense of purpose and as a result his confidence and inner-self blossomed. For me personally, playgroup allowed me to meet like-minded people and develop great friendships. Thank you Meg and Louise for creating such a wonderful, thoughtful, connected environment for the playgroup families.
